Canukshuks
Like our other discovery products, Canukshuks are softened with water allowing the sand to be carefully worked away with the wooden stick provided.
Canukshuks contain six soapstone puzzle pieces which can be arranged to solve a pictograph; like a bear, wolf, or fox. Each soapstone puzzle is hand painted and cut, so no two are exactly alike.
In addition, the pieces can also be stacked in a variety of ways to create an assortment of soapstone sculptures.
Soapstone comes in a variety of colours, mostly greens and browns. Its main component, talc, is very soft which allows the stone to be easily cut and shaped. Used for thousands of years for cooking pots and bowls, it is also widely used for art work and has become synonymous with Inuit sculpture.
